KOMUNIPASS Co-operation Management

Co-operations and Mergers always are intercultural!

You are surely aware of the fact that whether it’s about “buy and build”, “carve out”, “equity or joint venture”, international co-operation, acquisitions or mergers offer much of a tempting potential – and this even after close consideration.

This is the reason why the early phases of most mergers and acquisitions are often marked by euphoria about the negotiated deal, high expectations and intense media attention. Yet, reality is all too often disappointing in the long-term.

The consideration of cultural aspects and the existence of intercultural competencies are decisive success factors in this respect. As numerous studies prove it, over 60% of joint ventures, over 50% of international negotiations and over 70% of international mergers fail because "you cannot be together."

The success of a transaction or co-operation begins in the run-up. However, the consequences of cultural aspects are enormously underestimated by most management teams and remain frequently unidentified. Here, the greatest challenges are cultural differences - both in organisation culture and in national culture.

Cultural due diligence provides you a basis for evaluating the chances for success prior to a transaction and helpful support during the implementation phase.

Cooperation competence, that is, the ability to achieve collaboration between two or more companies / organisations, is a key advantage for competitiveness. However, this often faces top executives with unsolvable challenges.

In this seminar, you will learn how to

  • identify and assess the cultural aspects of cooperation/acquisition by means of cultural due diligence
  • assess the chances of success and the cultural potentials of cooperation more accurately,
  • to master the challenges of intercultural reciprocity,
  • turn cultural differences into a competitive advantage.

Who should participate?

  • experts, consultants, university and business school teachers engaged in subject areas like global integration, expansion strategy, international marketing, market entry planning, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), cultural due diligence, post merger integration, joint venture cooperation management;
  • professionals and executives to whom diversity management, international team building and cooperation plays a major role in intercultural teams;
  • HR experts engaged in areas like personnel development, organisational and corporate culture, change management of social systems, as well as migration and integration;
  • top managers and politicians responsible for major international negotiations, relations, alliances or cooperation.
